Current issues affecting Missouri

The 2009 Missouri Legislature is now in session. Some of the communications legislation before the legislature includes:

House Bill 465 – Expands the No-call List to include cell phone numbers, prohibits sending unsolicited faxes and text messages, and prohibits using automatic dialing announcing devices in certain situations.

House Bill 26 – Prohibits a person from operating a motor vehicle on public property while using a wireless telephone with certain exceptions.

Senate Bill 129 – Prohibits school bus drivers from using wireless telephones or other electronic wireless communication devices while operating school buses on the highways.

Senate Bill 130 – Prohibits drivers from sending text messages or electronic messages while operating motor vehicles on highways within Missouri except under limited circumstances.

Senate Bill 207 – Creates consumer notification requirements for data security breaches.
